Our NYC Story: Day 3

Today was our first real day in the City. Our first job was to figure out the subway system so we could get around. Luckily it was Sunday so it wasn't as busy for our first day. That helped alot.
Here is Kyle checking out the subway map while we wait. Our stop for the hotel was the Mets stop (Citi Field).

Here is the new Citi Field in Queens. They already tore the old Shea Stadium down.
We took the Subway to Times Square. We went here almost every morning and it took about an hour everyday.

In Times Square we hopped on our 5 hour bus tour we had scheduled. We had a great tour guide and learned alot about the city. I took so many pictures I would bore you to death if I put them all here.
One of the first stops was the Dakota Building where John Lennon lived and died and where Yoko Ono still lives.
Across the street from the Dakota Building is the Strawberry Fields part of Central Park, where this imagine mosaic was made to memorilize John Lennon.
This is the Flat Iron Building.
I took this picture of the Brooklyn Bridge from our stop at Pier 17.

We took a ride on the Staton Island Ferry, where we got our first close up look of the Statue of Liberty.

Here we are on the ferry.

Wall Street and the NY Stock Exchange. There were lots of buildings I took pictures of in the financial district.
Here is the Ground Zero Site. They have started working on the new buildings and now call it the "Former World Trade Center Site". That was a very emotional part of the tour.

Rockefeller Center.

Here is the view of Central Park and lots of buildings from the "Top of the Rock" on the 80-something floor of Rockefeller Center.

After our 5 hour tour, we were back in Times Square for the evening. We roamed around, shopped and ate "the best cheesecake in NYC" at Juniors. It was pretty good.
We went into the Toys R Us store in Times Square which has a ferris wheel inside it. It had lots of fun stuff and I know the boys would have loved it.
That was our first crazy day and we were exhausted! What a great day!
