Monument Valley Day Trip

Yesterday we took a day trip to Monument Valley, UT (actually it is in the Navajo Nation) because Kyle was off work and the boys are on spring break. Kyle's work trip to Alaska was cancelled because of the Volcano Eruption. It was cold and windy, so we stayed in the car most of the time.

These rocks were called the three sisters, but the boys started to call them the three brothers with Landon in the middle.
Here are the boys at the View Hotel there with the "mittens" in the background.

Here are some more monuments. We drove around, but didn't hike because of the cold. We took a lunch and picniced in the back of the suburban.

Here are the "mittens". If you look close you can see why. They look like two hands in mittens.

Here is John Wayne's cabin at Ghoulding's Lodge. He lived here while shooting one of his movies. I didn't realize how many movies had been made in monument valley (mostly westerns). They have a trading post, motel and museum here.

Here are the boys being goofy while I am trying to get their picture.

Goofy boys! It almost looks fake in the background, but it's real!

If you look really close you can see the boys standing out on this ledge in the middle of the picture. They look like ants here. It is a huge, vast desert.

This one is Elephant Butte. I think it looks like an elephant too.

I love this picture with the snow. It was snowing when we left home, but we thought it would be gone by the time we got there. Well it wasn't, but it did melt during the day.

Maybe we'll go back in the summer. Then again, I would rather 40 degrees than 100 degrees.

Our Las Vegas Getaway!

We took a wonderful trip to Las Vegas this week for 3 days/2 nights. Grandpa and Ann watched the kids.

Here is the famous sign that we hiked forever to get a picture of.
This is the view from our hotel room. We stayed at the New York, New York because Kyle won the trip on the radio. It included two nights at the hotel, Cirque de Soleil tickets, free dinner at an Irish pub, night club passes and a spa pass. We got so busy, we didn't go to the night club or spa.

Here are some pics of the strip at night. I liked the sign at the Flamingo.

I loved how the Eiffel Tower was lit up. I took this pic while we waited to watch the fountians at the Bellagio across the street.

Here is the roller coaster that goes around our hotel. We rode it once, but my eyes were closed so I didn't get a very good view. I'm not crazy about roller coasters anymore.

Here are the lions at the MGM. They were cool.

Here is the other lion.

Here is our hotel: the New York, New York. It was huge with a statue of liberty, brooklyn bridge, the new york skyline and cool shops and restaurants inside.

Here is me with our hotel in the background.

Here is the back of the Vegas Sign. We walked so much in two days, we were worn out.

Here is the Las Vegas LDS Temple. It was huge and gorgeous. We had wonderful weather the whole time which made for great pictures.
Some of the things we did that weren't in the pictures:
Mystere (Cirque do Soleil) at Treasure Island
Titanic Exhibit at the Luxor hotel.
Shopping at the Fashion Show Mall.
We had a great time.

the fountains at the bellagio in las vegas

This is the video we took in Las Vegas at the Bellagio Hotel. I have always heard about these fountains and they were pretty cool. I didn't video the whole thing, but enough for you to get the idea.

Enjoy!

What we did this week!

This week we went to Las Vegas for two nights on a trip Kyle won from the radio. So Grandpa and Ann came and watched the kids for a few day. They had a great time together. They came in on Monday and left this morning.

We played tee ball at the park on Monday. Cole will be playing tee ball this spring and Kaleb will be playing baseball. Since neither had played either before, they need practice. Here is Landon trying to hit the ball off the tee.
Kaleb didn't think he needed the tee, but he does. He needs alot of practice before it is time to play.

Swing batter, batter swing.

Cole hits the ball so hard the tee goes flying. He loves sports.

I tried to get a picture of the boys all dressed in green for st. pattys day, but they weren't cooperating. This is the best I got after about 10 pics.
We are so thankful to Grandpa & Ann for coming and watching the boys while we took our short trip (pictures to come).

School Program

I realize I haven't posted anything in a while. We really haven't been doing much lately except the same old thing. Not much to report for now.

The boys did have a "movement ed program" (the new term for P.E.) on Monday. I got some pics, but the video says it much better. Just like in the Christmas Program, Cole is hamming it up for the audience. If the picture is shaky it is because I am laughing. I also turned to camera mid way, so it might be hard to see. I think you'll get the picture, though.

Kaleb had a part too, but I didn't get it on video.

Enjoy! We will be traveling lots the next few months and baseball season is coming up. So don't worry, I haven't stopped blogging. It is just a slow time right now.

You can also check out my digital scrapbooking blog and let me know what you think ( www.scrapmommaof3.blogspot.com ). I spend my "free time" doing that (which means I am doing that instead of cleaning or doing laundry). Shame on me!
